The economy of food industry qualifications
Presentation
Research in economics is carried out in partnership between the Institut
National de Recherche Agronomique (INRA) and the Unité de Recherche
sur l'Economie des Qualifications agro-alimentaires (UREQUA) located in
Le Mans. The group is composed of 10 researchers and aims at
mobilising the experience of three teams within the Department of
Economics and Rural Sociology of the INRA: economics, sociology and
management.
Activities
The research programme of the INRA-UREQUA group concern the analysis
of food product qualification processes. They focus on consumer
behaviour, individual and collective strategies and on the role of
institutions in quality standard negotiations. These programmes allow an
assessment of the relevancy and the impact of specific techniques.
The main areas of research are:
- Official quality labels, both French and European
- Consumption, technological risks and environment.
Organisation chart
Dr Pierre Sans is head of research in Economics at the National Veterinary
College of Toulouse. He is working in connection with the INRA-UREQUA
group in Le Mans.
