Presentation

• To inform those involved in the socioeconomic, academic and scientific worlds (privately or publicly-funded) working in the field of food safety and quality about the programmes funded by "thematic priority 5" of the 6th European Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP6).
• To encourage small and medium-sized food and biotechnology industries to take part in the "new instruments" of the FP6 (integrated projects and excellency networks) in collaboration with ANVAR and ACTIA in order to try and comply with the EC objective to attribute to small and middle-sized companies15% of its work to research programmes.

• To guarantee the health and the welfare of European citizens through a "bottom-up" approach, from the consumer to the original producer, as opposed to the top-to-bottom vision of the last decades.
• To reinforce the competitiveness of the European food and biotechnology industries through innovation and participation of small and medium-sized companies.
